Welcome to my official website!
I have recently finished Father Burke Master’s A Grand Slam for God. And it is an enjoyable read. My mother had read it before, and I finally finished it reading it all the way through. I have kind of been on a series of reading about saints & holy people. I started with St Augustine’s Confessions and then read Pope Francis’s Hope, then read St Therese of Lisuex’s Story of a Soul, and then read (for school) Left to Tell (which is the story of a woman in the Rwandan Genocide, who was raised catholic, and through the genocide was able to find her faith), then I read EWTN’s biography on Pope Leo. And then I moved on here to Fr. Burke Master’s A Grand Slam for God. This is a really great book, and I enjoyed it. I would recommend it for any Catholic, whether you are considering a vocation to the priesthood, or are the parents of a priesthood or seminarian, of just a lay Catholic, this is a great book. Maybe it can help you find your vocation (whether you are a man or woman), or simply want to grow deeper in your faith. Fr. Burke recounts his life of faith, converting from Protestantism (though nominally) in High School (at my school’s arch-enemy) after a Kairos Retreat. His love of baseball, and then eventual joining into baseball, and how God was present in all of this time, guiding and helping him. It is a great read, and it is not just about vocation, it is about the life of faith and how God is present, even in bad times. And he talks about his dream of playing baseball professionally (and how God ultimately worked and granted this dream, even if not in the way he expected it). It is good to check out.
My next read? Courtship of the Saints
